Jesus tells his followers, if you want to bear fruit, if you want to receive the nourishment that only God can give, then abide in my love, forcefully reorient your life around receiving my blessings. He invites us into a relationship with him, not as servants, but as friends. But confusingly, he then turns around and says, "Do what I tell you." How does a friend do that? Isn't that the opposite of what friendship is all about?
Or is there something else going on here? Something more? Something beautiful?

Considerable time has been given reinforcing the need for God's church to commit to becoming a sacrificial, cohesive, sacrificial, interdependent people. We've tracked through Scripture how God has designed us for community, to serve with abandon, and to celebrate our differences while remaining committed to our mission.
But the Scriptures remind us that though service is a critical, crucial dimension of what it means to follow Jesus, it could all fall apart if its not built on a foundation of love. We consider why Jesus and his disciples place such a high price on love and how it impacts our service.

We can spend countless hours perfecting the image that we present to the world. In some circles, we sometimes present one picture, while in others, it can be entirely different. One of the problems that we face is when our outward projection doesn't match our inward state, our lives become fractured.
We can say what we want, but if our lives aren't tied into the True Vine, we will find our life source quickly fade, and our foundation give way. Jesus calls us to embrace life in him and renew our foundation that provides support to our entire life.

The truth is that the mosaic that Jesus is calling the church to become doesn’t happen by accident. The church must intentionally come together to be who God is calling us to be. The mosaic of the church won't happen until we commit to making it happen, in cooperation with the Holy Spirit.
We celebrate and affirm that God made us different and unique, but he also calls us together, to look beyond ourselves, and to come together in a radical way that reveals the heart of God to the world around us.
This week, we discover how God's power and love shines through our diversity when we are united together by his power.

Broken people are quick to remember how broken they are, but we too often approach it from a defeatist perspective. Our brokenness reminds us that we are worthless. It's self-defeating thinking and pushes us towards despair.
But Jesus wants to recontextualize your brokenness to show you are loved far deeper than you realize and far more valuable than you can imagine!

The life that God is calling us to as followers of Jesus is a beautiful masterpiece, but as we’re going to discover, it requires much of us. Because a mosaic can’t come together alone. You cannot complete a puzzle with just a single piece. If that were the case, then I'm a master puzzler, but as we found out last week, I’m not much of one of those. Because that’s not how puzzles work.
The church can’t be the church until her people commit to being the church God’s way.
The church is uniquely designed to be countercultural, calling us to commit to one another to see the mission of God move forward.
This week's message challenges listeners to see themselves as a critical part of God's mission. It includes the opportunity for listeners to take a spiritual gifts assessment to begin to see how they fit within the framework of the mission of God.
